Dr. Mohammed Elamir, Aviv Clinics Physician
Staying active, independent, and mentally sharp is a priority for many Villagers, who often seek therapies that support healthy aging and preserve cognitive and physical vitality.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is one such option widely offered across Florida. But despite its popularity, the hyperbaric landscape remains largely unregulated, with wide variation in clinical oversight, safety standards, and medical expertise.
Residents of The Villages can take comfort in knowing that our community is now home to one of only eight hyperbaric clinics in the state of Florida to earn accreditation from the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS), the leading authority in hyperbaric medicine. That distinction also makes Aviv Clinics the only UHMS-accredited hyperbaric facility located between Orlando and Pensacola.
UHMS accreditation is widely considered the gold standard in the field, and is the only hyperbaric-specific certification recognized by The Joint Commission. Accreditation requires rigorous external review of physician oversight, patient safety systems, emergency preparedness, and clinical protocols.
Aviv Clinics is the first and only accredited clinic focused on treating emerging, off-label conditions, an unprecedented distinction. Treated conditions include stroke, traumatic brain injury, long COVID, PTSD, fibromyalgia, and age-related cognitive and physical decline. This milestone makes The Villages the epicenter of innovation in hyperbaric medicine.
