The VHA focus is to Get Involved – Make a Difference.  This monthly article will feature how our neighbors improve their quality of life by getting involved using nature trails, clubs, activities, and amenities in The Villages.

These suggestions are from members of the Brownwood Birders. Check out their website for some amazing bird photos.

Hawkins Walking Trail: Park at the Hawkins Pool. Walk north down Hawkins Drive past the pond on the right. The trail is on the left across from Brett Way. You will have an amazing view that never disappoints. There are fewer visitors compared to other trails in The Villages.

Sugar Cane Recreation Area: An enjoyable walking trail, great in any season with large trees, ponds and amazing birds. There is exercise equipment, and an air gun range. It has a reasonably short trail that can be walked in a short amount of time.

DeLuna Recreation Area: Contains a Butterfly Garden, the only one in The Villages. Many placards describe the plants and butterflies. The path continues past an amazing marshy area where we have seen many birds. In the evening thousands of birds fly into roost, a wonderful sight.
