Home » Get Involved: How You Can Make a Difference with the VHA

For more than 35 years, the Villages Homeowners Advocates (VHA) has been built on a simple idea: residents working together to make our community stronger. Whether you joined last month or have been a member for years, there’s a place for you to get involved, and it’s easier than you might think.

What the VHA Does
The VHA advocates for the best possible quality of life for everyone who calls The Villages® Community home. We give residents a real voice with the city, county, district, law enforcement and the developer, using positive, constructive dialogue to get real answers.

We host Residents’ Information Nights and speaker forums so neighbors can make confident decisions about their health, safety and community. Through the VHA Foundation, we also support local causes such as Helping Hands, which loans free durable medical equipment to residents in need, and Operation Shoebox, along with food pantries and area shelters.

The Difference It Makes
The impact is real. At the VHA-championed Shared Harvest Garden in Lady Lake, volunteers have harvested up to 24,000 pounds of fresh produce in a single season for local food banks, soup kitchens and churches serving families in need.

Ways to Get Involved

  1. Attend an event. From golf cart safety clinics and bingo to wellness speakers and Residents’ Information Nights, there’s something happening every month. Check out our upcoming at EVENTS
  2. Bring a friend. Invite a neighbor who isn’t yet a member to join you at an event. It’s the best way for them to see what the VHA is all about.
  3. Volunteer. Lend a hand at the Shared Harvest Garden or at VHA events. Contact Peter Russell at [email protected] to get started.
  4. Spread the word. Share VHA news with friends and neighbors, and encourage them to contact us to learn more.
  5. Support the VHA Foundation. The VHA runs on the generosity of residents like you. Through the VHA Foundation, your donations go directly to local, resident-focused causes, including Helping Hands, which loans free durable medical equipment to residents in need, Operation Shoebox, and the Shared Harvest Garden, which donates to food pantries, area shelters, churches, and more.

Every gift, large or small, makes a real difference for our neighbors. Please consider making a donation today at DONATE to help keep VHA-championed programs like the Shared Harvest Garden thriving well into the future.

Every member who shows up, invites a neighbor or lends a hand helps strengthen the community we all call home. Find upcoming events and learn more at thevha.net.
