We are certainly aware of transitions. Every day, we transition from who we were to something new. We evolve. At Shared Harvest Garden, which is funded by the VHA Foundation, we are currently in the transition stage. The 2024-2025 growing season was a tremendous success. Now it is time for the soil to rest. We will plant a cover crop in the garden, which will provide a mechanism for biology, chemistry, and physics to work in concert, resulting in rejuvenated soil for planting in September.
There is more. The VHA and VHA Helping Hands are moving from the Spanish Springs location to a new location in Brownwood. The growth of VHA Helping Hands had eliminated the meeting room space in Spanish Springs and necessitated rental storage space. Our new offices are at 3559 Kiessel Road, in Brownwood Paddock Square. We will be able to have the meeting room and office space necessary for the VHA and provide space for the VHA Helping Hands operations. The transition for VHA Helping Hands has required tremendous planning and coordination. I thank those volunteers who worked hard to set up and move the equipment. One of the volunteers shared that it is a labor of love. It is nice to know that we have neighbors with that attitude.
There was no rest period for the VHA. We have worked to provide educational programs that fit your needs. The collaboration with key community leaders provides advantages. Upcoming programs in development where the VHA will have a significant role will be a direct result of those efforts. I have talked about the large footprint of the VHA in the community for years, and it is about to get larger. I look forward to sharing those initiatives in future months.
