As a new year begins, many of us think about what we want to improve, achieve, or challenge ourselves to do in the next 12 months. Some set simple resolutions. Others, like Villager Dean Lampe, are far more ambitious in their goal setting.
Dean had always enjoyed mountain biking, but mainly as a hobby. Then, at age 56, he decided to take it more seriously and set an outlandish goal: Competing in the Leadville 100.
Leadville isn’t just any race. It’s a grueling 105-mile, high-altitude contest through the Colorado Rockies with nearly 12,000 feet of elevation gain. The course is challenging for the most elite mountain bikers, let alone someone who trains at just 75 feet above sea level.
But Dean didn’t just qualify for Leadville. He finished it.
How did a self-proclaimed “guy on the couch” conquer one of the most demanding endurance races on the planet? We’ll reveal his secret at Palmer Legends Country Club on Monday, Jan. 26, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Join us for a free presentation, Athletes at Every Age: The Performance Playbook.
Over lunch, Dean will be joined by his team of physicians, nutrition experts, physical therapists, and psychologists from Aviv Clinics, who collaborated to build a personalized performance plan to support his outlandish goal.
If you’re ready to embrace your ambition in 2026, don’t simply set a New Year’s resolution. Join us on Jan. 26 to learn how you can harness your full potential. RSVP by calling 352-689-8727 or visiting aviv-clinics.com/events.
