    Helping Churches Help People.

The local church is God’s answer to community brokenness and a part of his plan of redemption and restoration. That’s why we mobilize local churches to offer a holistic approach to caring for people in all areas of life: spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical. "Love In The Name of Christ in the Heart of Florida seeks donations for thrift store. The organization, at 15797 S. U.S. Highway 441 in Summerfield, is a network of about 40 churches of varying denominations who gather to temporarily help those in crisis situations. These situations can be families who need vehicle repairs or to replace broken appliances. The group is accepting donations of clothing, furniture and housewares. Donations are accepted from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the donation center on the property. ' We love having volunteers come in and help sort out the donations for the clients,' said Dana Parker, executive director for Love INC. 'They are always willing to lend a hand and help make a difference. We all come from a variety of churches throughout the area, sharing a common goal of working together to help others.' The county commissioners are the primary legislative & policy-making body for Marion County. Each commissioner represents one of the five districts in which they reside. Each county commissioner is elected by all county voters to serve a four-year term. The board elects a chairman & vice chairman each year.

    Responsibilities

Whether enacting ordinances & resolutions or approving budgets & expenditures, the board has the responsibility to provide for the safety & welfare of all Marion County residents & visitors.

    Meetings

The county commission meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m. in the McPherson Governmental Campus auditorium, 601 SE 25th Ave., Ocala.

During these public meetings, commissioners engage with members of the community, discussing & hearing comments on a variety of issues. Reports are made from different committees which focus on specific topics in the community. Finally, commissioners vote on any action items that are on the agenda, which is made available to the public before each county commission meeting.

    Budget & funding

The county commission's overall operating budget includes the county administrator (23 departments & offices) & is funded through general county ad valorem taxes & other revenue sources. Ad valorem taxes are also used to fund the elected constitutional officers, state-mandated programs such as Medicaid & various other programs.
