Home » Aviv Clinics Offers Simple Blood Test That Could Spot Alzheimer’s Risk

If you’ve ever wondered whether your “senior moments” might be a sign of something more concerning, you’re not alone. Now, a simple blood test, available in The Villages®, may be able to help you determine if you’re at increased risk for Alzheimer’s disease.

The pTau-217 blood test measures levels of a protein associated with the earliest stages of Alzheimer’s. Elevated pTau levels can signal changes in the brain, even years before other symptoms become noticeable.

Until recently, detecting Alzheimer’s-related changes required invasive spinal taps or costly brain scans. pTau-217 testing offers a less invasive, more affordable way to help identify people who could benefit from further evaluation or early intervention.

At Aviv Clinics in The Villages, walk-in pTau testing is available for $350 and includes an in-depth results consultation with a board-certified physician. That’s a key difference from many commercial labs, where test results are delivered without context or medical guidance.

“Our goal is to help Villagers take charge of their brain health,” says Amir Hadanny, MD, PhD, CEO and Chief Medical Officer at Aviv Clinics. “This test can be especially valuable for individuals who’ve noticed subtle memory changes or have a family history of Alzheimer’s disease. But results should never be viewed in isolation — clinical interpretation is key.”

Located in the Center for Advanced Healthcare at Brownwood, Aviv Clinics specializes in personalized care to support brain performance and healthy aging.
