Captain Siemer, who is the District Supervisor for The Villages section of Sumter County will discuss the various services the Sheriff’s department provides including Vial of Life, FREE home security inspections, human scent preservation kits and the Peace of Mind program. The event will be held on May 22nd at Ezell Recreation Center from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. This is a MEMBER ONLY event and seating is limited to 140 members.

You can pre-register for the event clicking the “Events” tab at the top of the home page under the May 22 event. This registration guarantees you a seat until 5:45 p.m. on the day of the event.  At 5:45 p.m. we will release your registration for any unregistered members who may be waiting as a walk in to attend the event.

We’re going to start the evening with a presentation about the Sumter County Animal Services Department. I recently visited and toured the facility. It is amazing to see all the great work they are doing! I was surprised to learn that you can adopt an animal with no adoption fee! There’s also some great opportunities if you want to consider volunteering at the center or fostering an animal for a short period of time.

I’m hoping if you decide to attend the event, you’ll consider donating item(s) for the animal services center. Dr Fitzpatrick, who is the veterinarian in charge of the department gave me the following list of items they need. Similar to a food collection drive, we will be collecting items for the center at the meeting. I hope you’ll consider contributing.

List of requested items to donate to the Sumter County Animal Center:

  • Towels
  • Small dog/cat beds
  • Peanut Butter
  • Squeeze Cheese
  • Non-rawhide treats (Snausages, Beggin strips, milk bones, etc)
  • Applesauce (no sugar or other sweeteners added)
  • Kitten Food (dry and pate)
  • Miracle Nipples (for feeding bottle baby kittens)
  • Kitten Milk Replacer
  • Catnip
  • Cat Toys
