Get Involved, Make a Difference: Hogeye Preserve Pathway
The VHA theme is Get Involved, Make a Difference. This month we are talking about Hogeye Preserve Pathway.
The Hogeye Pathway is a 2.5-mile trail that welcomes bikers, runners, walkers, birdwatchers, and dog walkers – anyone who enjoys the fabulous views! Benches are found at various places around the Pathway to sit back, rest, and admire the scenery. The path goes around the 81-acre Hogeye Nature Preserve and the Marsh View Pitch & Putt course. You can see abundant birds and perhaps an alligator or two.
There are three starting points to the pathway, including the most popular at Edna’s on the Green. There are also two trailheads on the multimodal path going from the Everglades Recreation Center to the Water Lily Bridge. These trailheads provide parking for golf carts. After completing the 2.5-mile loop, you can relax, listen to music, have a beverage, and eat at Edna’s on the Green.
The Marsh View Pitch and Putt, the Lowlands Executive Course, and the Cattail Recreation Center are located next to Edna’s on the Green.
Hogeye Preserve Pathway opened in May of 2019.
Hours of use are 7:00am to dusk.
