Thousands of Villagers travel away from our community during the summer months. Guess what? They are returning. More cars are on the roads, and golf carts, bikes, and walkers are out on our multi-modal paths every day. Please be respectful of others and careful while driving.
Thousands were away, and others were hiding in an air-conditioned environment, but our leadership teams at the VHA were busy completing the planning for 2024 events and scheduling for 2025.
Dave Fountaine continues to work with our web consultants to upgrade our website. The result will be spectacular. Navigation will be simpler, and uploading newsworthy information in a timely manner will be easier. The projected rollout of the innovative design is November 1. It has been challenging.
Gail Royster will be hosting the Foundation Committee quarterly meeting in October. The committee is always looking for requests for funding opportunities. The information and application forms are available on our website, thevha.net. I look forward to the notification of who has received funding.
Mike Cullipher, our Golf Cart Safety Coordinator, will host the October 16th GCS course at Colony Cottage Recreation Center at 9:00am. The VHA does not just talk about multi-modal path safety; we provide a free course monthly to promote that safety. Eighty-five residents attended our course in September.
Shared Harvest Gardens is preparing for the winter season planting. We already have fall crops in the ground and thousands of seedlings in the greenhouse. We can always use help. Email me if you have any questions.
Al Arnold, President of the VHA Helping Hands, reports that the contacts during 2024 may exceed the 10,000 contacts made during 2023. It is a monumental task. Al and his staff could use your help. The VHA Helping Hands information is also on our website, thevha.net.
The collaboration efforts surrounding the Quality-of-Life initiative are moving forward at an extremely fast pace. We will be sharing information about these efforts at our Leadership Forum in October. This meeting is open to our Neighborhood Representatives, Advisory Board, and Board of Directors members.
It is not all business! Debi Gorzka hosts bingo monthly. Bingo is a major fundraiser for our organization. Check our events calendar for locations and times.
The VHA is committed to being positive and constructive leaders in our community.
