On Tuesday, January 14th, as I addressed the 162 residents assembled at Residents’ Information Night seeking information about our community, I talked about the origination of The VHA. More than 30 years ago, six community members established The VHA with these standards in mind: Positive constructive dialogue, problem-solving, education, and philanthropy. Nothing has changed – well, almost nothing. Our organization has grown in numbers, and our program initiatives have grown along with those numbers.

The VHA currently supports a Golf Cart Safety Program, Residents’ Information Night, Shared Harvest Garden, Helping Hands, the Health and Wellness Expo, The Voice, bingo, and other local programs held throughout the year based on demographic needs. All these programs are available to all residents. That is correct – any resident can attend these events at no charge. Let me say again – that all residents can attend at no charge.

The VHA leadership works every day to ensure and enhance the quality of life for all residents of our community. If you live in our community, we advocate for your needs. If we work on collaborative initiatives involving health issues, it is for everyone. If we work on collaborative initiatives with District Government representatives for the creation of The Enrichment Academy or a new walking path, it is for everyone. My point is this: 30 years ago, The VHA was an initiative-taking organization. Today, The VHA still carries that initiative-taking motivation forward for all community members.

There are certainly operational costs associated with the initiatives we support. We can partially finance these initiatives through bingo and generous donations. We also rely on your support. We work to ensure that you do not “flunk retirement,” and we would appreciate it if you would support The VHA financially. Access our website at thevhastag.wpenginepowered.com, join The VHA, and support our community initiatives or donate to our Foundation to support our philanthropic endeavors.

Thank you in advance for your support.
