As we move through the second half of 2025, the Villages Public Safety Department (VPSD) continues to enhance operational readiness, strengthen community partnerships, and make critical improvements to facilities and staffing. Here’s a summary of key updates from August data:
Emergency Response & Performance
August 2025 Incidents:
• Total: 2,336
• 75% were Emergency Medical Services (EMS)-related.
• 25% were fire or fire-related incidents.
Ambulance Response Statistics for August 2025:
• Critical/High Acuity Calls: 6.8 min average response time.
• Moderate/Low Acuity Calls: 6.7 min average response time.
• Total August Transports: 1,376.
FYTD Ambulance Response Statistics:
• Critical/High Acuity Calls: 6.6 min average response time.
• Moderate/Low Acuity Calls: 7.1 min average response time.
• Total FYTD Transports: 15,468.
Response Time Goal:
• First-unit arrival: 5:20 (pending full staffing & new stations).
• Fire Units: 77% of calls responded to within 8 minutes.
• EMS Units: 71% responded within 8 minutes.
System efficiency remains a priority, with ambulance utilization on track to remain below 30% Unit Hour Utilization (UHU). Hospital offload times have improved through continued facility cooperation.
Incident Highlights
• Community Engagement Events: Hometown Heroes Gala, 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, and Class 2503 Pinning Ceremony.
• Personnel Recognition: VPSD staff honored for their service at regional events.
Station & Fleet Updates
Capital Improvement Projects (FY 25/26):
• Station 51: Remodel.
• Station 44: Roof replacement.
• Station 45: Minor interior renovation.
• A/C Replacements: Stations 42, 44, 45.
Program Development
VPSD received a $150,000 Drone Grant for the Unmanned Aircraft Assistance Program, enhancing:
• Fireground and hazardous material reconnaissance.
• Search & rescue/disaster response.
• Prevention inspections & pre-incident planning.
• Confined-space operations.
• Proof-of-concept medical logistics (blood/supply delivery).
Staffing Updates
New positions established:
• Division Chief of Operations.
• EMS Training Lieutenant.
• Fire Training Lieutenant.
• Logistics Technician.
These additions support operational efficiency and strengthen training capacity as VPSD continues to expand.
