Over 125 new Villagers attended a special information night to welcome them to the Villages. The presentation was targeted for residents of Community District 15, which includes the villages of Shady Brook, Moultrie Creek, Well Point, Waters Edge, and Oak Hallow. Many have only moved into their homes within the past 30 days.

VHA Area Mike Williams felt that providing a more targeted orientation for these new residents was important. This would give them an opportunity to meet local governmental officials and each other in a more intimate session solely focused on residents of these brand-new villages.

The district manager, Kenny Blocker, presented an overview of a community development district and how it works. Carrie Ducket explained what an amenity fee is, how it is determined, and what services are covered by the fee. VPSD Fire Chief Brian Twist and his leadership team explained how fire and emergency medical services are provided to the residents.

Sumter County was well represented, with Sumter County Commissioner Don Wiley, Sumter County Sheriff Pat Breeden, Captain Robert Siemer, Villages District Commander, and Sergeant Dodge all on hand to meet and greet the residents.

The City of Wildwood also had representatives, as all villages in CDD are part of the City of Wildwood. Jason McHugh, the City Manager, Police Chief Randy Parmer, and City Supervisor Marco Flores welcomed some of the newest city residents to the area.

A special thank you to Villages Golf Cars and the Daily Sun for providing some very nice prizes for the attendees, which made for a fun evening.

One more education session will be offered for residents of CDD 15 on Thursday, June 5th, at the Saluki Recreation Center from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. This session will feature Matt Armstrong from Community Standards, who will explain everything related to deed restrictions to help new residents understand the process for making external improvements/enhancements to their property.

If you’re a new resident of any of the villages mentioned, you might consider attending. For more information, please visit the VHA website (thevha.net) and look under the Events tab.
