On May 8th , the VHA hosted a meeting at the Sharon L. Morse Performing Arts Center titled “Our Community, Today and Tomorrow.” The focus was on the collaboration between various professional groups in our community whose focus is on Quality of Life.
I decided to call a follow-up meeting in June to discuss further collaborative planning. I scheduled that meeting for August 20th, which included The Villages Recreation and Parks, The Villages Grown, The Villages Health, UF Hospital at Spanish Plain, The Villages Development Team, and The Villages Homeowners Advocates. As I prepared notes for the meeting, it became obvious there was much to discuss.
I wanted to discuss topics such as demographic changes, societal changes, memory care, and the loneliness pandemic. Are there issues? What are they? Is there anything missing? What? What can we do better? Better collectively? What is the VHA’s role in the distribution of information?
The assembled group focused on opportunities currently available and what we might do collectively to enhance those opportunities. We will research available programs to determine overlap and best practices in disseminating the information. The options are endless. As a group, we meet regularly to enhance the Quality of Life we all strive to achieve.
The VHA is working on upgrades to our website, which will make our ability to provide information consistently possible. Please be patient! You will also notice that we provide information through other organizations offering holistic prevention options. These programs are in addition to our extensive list of informational opportunities provided every month. You may or may not agree with the options, but we have done our best to provide information that will help in making sound decisions.
I welcome your comments, but beware that I may ask you to participate as a consultant!
