Beginning soon, your representatives to PWAC and AAC will hold budget workshops to determine amenity funds expenditures for next year. As I think about the process and the millions of dollars involved, I am grateful. I am grateful because of the dedication of the community members serving on our various boards.
As you reflect on the process and think about the fees we all pay to fund our infrastructure, be aware of the incredible insight of our predecessors. “National Gold Standard” status for our Recreation and Parks did not just happen. The ability to assemble the Sheriffs of Sumter, Lake, and Marion Counties, along with the Police Chiefs from Lady Lake and Fruitland Park, in the same room to support our Community Watch division led by Chief Wolfe, did not just happen. Placement of the Mobil Stroke Ambulance in our community did not just happen. Chief Twiss and his 250 fire and EMS personnel proved they could master the advanced technology and save lives. Even our water systems draw international visitors who are amazed by the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of our potable and irrigation delivery. Years of dedication and attention to detail created this infrastructure.
The above is only a small portion of the positive impact of programs implemented by District Government. Every division deserves accolades. Every division team works every day to ensure the existing infrastructure functions as designed and continue to upgrade facilities for the future.
We as humans sometimes think it is easier to focus on the negative. Let us stop and rethink that habit. Next time a conversation starts to go negative, stop and think of the positive aspect instead. See if you can turn the conversation around to the positive. Remember, your glass is either half full or half empty. Your choice.
