The 1022-seat Sharon Performing Arts Center was sold out, with doors opening early for a time to meet and mingle.   It was also an opportunity for The VHA to give attendees a showcase all they do for The Villages community, with tables hosted by volunteers who work in various areas:  The VHA Foundation (which is the philanthropic arm of the organization); The VHA Helping Hands (which is a popular program that loans out durable medical equipment to Villagers and their guests); and The VHA (with its various programs, events, and presentations that offers on-going social, educational, and advocacy services).

The evening began with a warm welcome and leading the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance by The VHA President, Peter Russell.  He gave a brief history of The VHA and its importance to the community for over 30 years.  It continues to fulfill its mission to be a positive and constructive advocate with a good working relationship with the District Government and The Developer.

Using a new interview format, Mr. Russell first talked to District Manager Kenny Blocker and Asst. Dist. Mgr. Carrie Duckett.  They were followed by The Developer, Mark Morse, president and CEO of The Villages, and his team:  Matt Hoopfer, executive director of operations for commercial property management; Devon Wiechens, VP of commercial design; and Ryan McCabe, executive VP of operations.

The audience was enthusiastic, engaged, and special consideration was provided with sign language interpreters for the hearing impaired.

When the presentation portion of the evening ended, the audience was invited back to the lobby area for a time of asking Mr. Morse questions one-on-one.
