“The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.”
The Red Cross is best known for providing shelters, food and comfort to people affected by disasters and for supplying blood to those in need – about 40% of the nation’s demand. It also teaches skills that save lives, distributes international humanitarian aid and supports veterans, military members and their families. The American Red Cross even has preparedness training for small-business owners and entrepreneurs.
As an individual living in The Villages, you can access training programs on a host of topics, including first aid, CPR, AED, ALS/PALS, swimming and water safety. You can order books, DVDs, first-aid supplies and emergency preparedness kits.
People move to The Villages for an active lifestyle in a friendly community, and we at the Red Cross believe we can enhance your lifestyle by offering you opportunities to learn, to volunteer and to donate as you see fit. Like The VHA, we are primarily volunteers who believe that collectively, we can improve our lives and others’ and make this a better world. We, too, are problem solvers.
