While The VHA is a local nonprofit that raises its own operating funds, I want to pitch for another charity in The Villages that also needs funds. Operation Shoebox prepares gift boxes for service members year-round and does a lot to prepare and send packages to them during the fast-approaching, holiday season. It takes effort and money to ship these packages and they need help from the generous Villagers.

It takes a while for the packages to get there so the shipping season has to start early – please send a check ASAP. Or go do it now; I’ll wait.
Ever feel like you don’t know what is going on in The Villages? Go to www.districtgov.org, click on “How Do I?” at the top of the page. The fourth choice is “Sign Up for Email Notifications”. Select what you want email notifications you are interested in, but I highly recommend, under the ‘Other’ option, that you choose to receive the District Weekly Bulletin, a choice near the bottom. After that, the choices are up to you, but that bulletin is important.
