I really appreciated the article “Better Together” in last month’s issue of The Voice.  Although I’ve been covering the North Area lately, my husband and I are happy to travel the whole of The Villages, from north to far south.

Our regular stomping ground for recreational activities is the central area, and we love to sit and look out over Lake Sumter, especially at sunset time.  But exploring the whole of this community is a pleasure.

We regularly head north for shopping, eating out, and entertainment, and make a habit of visiting all the town squares when special activities are going on and to take advantage of each one’s unique shops. When we have visitors, we try to hit all three town squares plus show off the beautiful regional recreation centers.

It’s been fun lately to head to the far south to see the progress there, watch the construction crews at work, and check out the new bridges.  We plan on taking our golf cart down soon to ride across at least a couple of them, and are looking forward to trying out the Pitch and Putt golf course.

This week we volunteered with The VHA to help with the Golf Cart Poker Run in the far south area at the stunning Everglades Regional Recreation Center.  We had a blast!  And so did the participants, most of them from the far south area.   I think this program will catch on, along with other new events that are being planned thanks to our program director, Mike Burke.

The VHA is coming back, and taking off!  New Resident Night returns this month, the Community Foundation’s Bingo is back, Golf Cart Safety is going strong, and more activities to enjoy, volunteer for, and look forward to are on the horizon.

If you want to be part of the future of The VHA, especially if you live in the north area and would like to represent your neighborhood or sit on the advisory board as a district representative, please contact me at [email protected] .

When we all pitch in, we are, indeed, “Better Together”,
