Investor Fraud Workshop
WORKSHOP ON PROTECTING YOURSELF FROM INVESTOR FRAUD SCHEDULED ON OCT. 4 The Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) Foundation is presenting a free seminar covering the basics of investor fraud and discussing steps everyday investors can take to protect themselves in today’s complex financial world. This information-packed session will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at The Villages Public Library, 7375 Powell Road just off CR-466A at Pinellas Plaza in The Villages. The 90-minute session will begin at 10:00 a.m. Beginning with a discussion of the types of financial fraud commonly happening today, the discussion will focus on real-life fraud situations and steps that could have been taken to prevent them. A variety of information sources that residents can use to guard against unscrupulous brokers and financial agents will be covered, as well as the warning signs potential investors should be alerted to when considering the commitment of their money. During the presentation, online information and broker validation software that is available free of charge to the public will be illustrated. No special equipment is required to participate in the workshop, although attendees are invited to bring a laptop or internet-enabled device to experience this software firsthand. This session is for informational purposes only. No investments will be solicited, and no follow-up contacts will be made.
