Hoedown Entertainment

by VHA Staff

It’s that time of year again!  Time for the VHA’s Country and Western Hoedown. The Villages Polo Grounds will be packed with cowboy and cowgirl-themed entertainment, contests, exhibits, vendors, and tons of fun for all ages, including a Kids Zone.   This edition of The Voice is devoted to all things Hoedown, plus some of our regular features to keep you informed about other VHA upcoming events for January.  This year the main stage will once again welcome Macey Mac, a contestant on season 13 of America’s Got Talent, who will perform at 12:00 noon.  A southern girl from Mississippi now living in Ocala, Florida, Macey is a true southern hippie…performing a wide range of music on stage, playing guitar, mandolin and stomping her boot tambourine. The Xtreme Horsemanship Team will bring their energetic show to delight audiences with two performances at 10:20 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Cowboy mounted shooting is a sport that combines elements of old-time Wild West Show exhibitions, along with  elements of barrel racing, pole bending, reining, and many other equestrian skills; all done while using two 45lc caliber single-action revolvers, loaded with 5 rounds each of black powder blanks to shoot ten balloon targets set in a special random pattern or Old West type scenario called a ‘stage’.  We will end The Hoedown with the music of one of The Villages favorite bands, Johnny Wild and the Delights.   From Rock to Country, Pop to Motown and everywhere in between, watching this band feels like a celebration of the music that gave birth to modern pop culture. Johnny Wild and the Delights are your true time machine to the music and style of the classic era. They will perform at 3:00 p.m Check out “In This Issue” for more information and photos of what to expect, how to get tickets, premium seating options, and how to preregister for some of the contests and competitions.   This year we are holding two new competitions:  A tri-county corn hole tournament, and a country western dress-up contest.

Come Out and Enjoy a Rip Snortin’ Rootin’ Tootin’ Good Time!!!!
