The VHA Community Foundation: Meet our New Treasurer
The VHA Community Foundation: Meet our New TreasurerFred Oehling is the newest member of The VHA-CF Board, replacing John Conboy as treasurer. Fred was born and raised in Somerset, PA, living most of his working years in Pittsburgh. He and his wife Corda, moved full time to The Villages in 2005. They have two children and two grandsons; daughter Karen and her husband Jamie, along with their two boys Nathaniel and Nicholas, live in St. Louis, while their son Rob is single and lives in Ft. Lauderdale. Fred graduated from Shippensburg State College (now Shippensburg University) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1972. Since then, he has spent 40-plus years in healthcare regulatory finance while employed with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield (formerly Blue Cross of Western Pennsylvania), Price Water House Coopers (formerly Coopers and Lybrand), Allegheny Health Education and Research Foundation, ultimately retiring from Compliance Concepts, Inc. Since moving to The Villages, Fred and Corda owned and operated Turtle Bay Clothing Company. It was an interesting venture since neither one had prior retail management experience. Fortunately for Fred, Corda did most of the work, being responsible for the overall operation of the store while Fred maintained the accounting records and tax filings. During that time both were active with the Spanish Springs Merchants Association. In addition, Fred and Corda have begun to usher at the Savannah Center. Up to now, The Villages has been their “Disney World for Adults”! Being able to give back through the VHA Community Foundation is a great opportunity.
