VHA Golf Cart Safety Clinic News

By Joy Tolan

The VHA Golf Cart Safety Clinic was held Wednesday July 21st. at 10:00am at the Savannah Center. We had a very good turnout for summer with 48 in attendance. Our guest speakers were Rebecca with Allstate Ins., Deputy Dick Bennett, Sumter County Sheriff’s Department, Officer Jim McGarvey, Lady Lake Police Department and John from Cart World. Many great questions were asked and answered. Our clinics are held the third wed. of each month with he exception of December always at 10:00am at Savannah Center and are free to The Villages residents.  We are now starting our 11th year, so please mark August 18th on your calendar and join us for our next clinic. These clinics are free, but we do ask that you bring a non-perishable food item(s) for the food pantry. If you have any questions please call Joy at 750-5368.

Safety Tips of the Month:

1. We cannot stress enough to keep your legs and arms inside the cart. This is an accident waiting to happen.

2. You must stop at all stop signs and red lights.  (Complete Stop) Very expensive fine if you are stopped by law enforcement.

3. Your headlights need to be on at dusk and during inclement weather.
