Stephen Brown

In my working career with a Midwest mid-size chemical/manufacturing industry, my first 20 years were spent in R&D and as a Project Engineer. The later 24 years, were spent as that same company’s Regional Safety Manager.

I’m an active member of our neighborhood’s AED and CPR response team since its inception.  I’ve served on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity in IL, and as a construction laborer/coach for Lake-Sumter’s Habitat here.   I have served on a Local Emergency Planning Cmte. and the Danville Area Safety Council. I served on the Board of Directors for Teepak Credit Union, and as President of our hometown Arts -In-The-Park board. I also acted as Project Leader on several city-wide church initiatives.  During my younger years, I served as a volunteer firefighter, an EMT, a CPR Instructor, a Haz-Mat Tech, and a patrolman.

I have served on the District 9 Board of Supervisors since 2013 as a Supervisor (seat 5).   I have been serving for the past two years (and currently) as the CDD 9 Board’s representative on the Project Wide Advisory Committee (PWAC) and the Multi-Modal Path Discussion Group.
I’ve held leadership positions with many groups, clubs, committees, and organizations linked to my personal and professional life.

Challenges and opportunities require a full understanding of the root issue, the parameters in which we must operate, and a fair decision based on a balance of individual needs and our community’s culture and deed restrictions.  I come to my decisions based on, “Do the right thing”.  As financial decisions should be based on value/return on investment, I tend toward fiscal conservatism.

Best Regards,

Steve
