My name is John “J.R.” Rebecky, and I am currently the Seat 2 Supervisor on the VCD District Board 10. I’ve lived in The Villages with my wife Jeanne since 2013 and currently reside in the Village of Dunedin. Prior to moving to Dunedin, I was an elected District 9 supervisor from The Village of Gilcrest.
In my past, I attended the SUNY at Farmingdale New York, majoring in Architecture and Business Administration. I became a member of the New Hyde Park Fire Department and served for over 10 years, rising to the rank of Captain/Advanced Emergency Medical Technician. I’m currently a member of the New Hyde Park Exempt Firemen’s Association.
I recently retired as a National Construction Staff Area Manager after a 46-year career with AT&T where my responsibilities included 15 years as a Purchasing Manager; 30 years engineering/construction Manager developing construction methods and procedures and ensuring compliance; I’ve held supervisory positions for restoration efforts after Hurricanes Andrew and Katrina; I am a past member of the Florida Right-of-Way Association, representing utility and community issues in the South Florida Region. I am a life member to the Telephone Pioneer Association in Florida/Georgia and have volunteered my time to worthwhile local civic projects and causes in metropolitan Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Atlanta areas.
My primary focus if elected will be to continue working effectively with my fellow supervisors and District Staff, to ensure proper stewardship of District 10’s budgets, ensuring a good relationship with the other districts through PWAC, while maintaining the values which our residents expect, here in “The Friendliest Hometown.”
