For decades, stores like Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s and Lord & Taylor have delighted and amazed passers-by with their whimsical, festive and often over-the-top displays of artistry. Do you have a creative flair? If so, volunteering as a window dresser at the new Ye Olde Thrift Shoppe may be right for you.
Nancy Cummings is the shop’s volunteer who is coordinating the window design. “We want our shop to be reminiscent of the days when huge department stores actively engaged their audiences by injecting life and creativity into the shopping experience,” stated Nancy. “These are great windows that can tell the story about who we are and the marvelous items we have to offer.”
Nancy is currently seeking creative volunteers with a flair for fashion and retail. The window dressers will work four hours each Monday morning to create and maintain a beautiful window scape. As merchandise is purchased each day, volunteer floor staff will re-stage the windows as needed. The shop, which is located at 110 W. Lady Lake Blvd. in Lady Lake, has remained open during the construction of the new building. Store hours are 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. A grand opening will be scheduled in the summer. To learn more about how you can help in any of the store’s positions, call Nancy Cummings at 352-460-2098.
