VHA Lake County Regional ReportBy Joy Anderson | | | LAKE COUNTY REGION The Lake County Region of the VHA met on July 16, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. at the Chula Vista Recreation Center. There were nine representatives present and ten guests that took part in the meeting. We were all ushered into the electronic age with a discussion of our new VHA website (www.thevha.net) as we learned of our new on-line information center.
Maps of the Lake County region were distributed as we learned more about our area. We have one Championship Golf Course and restaurant and pool (Orange Blossom). There are two regional and one regular recreational centers. The guest pass policy was reviewed in light of the proposed polling by the AAC. Judy Glassel updated us on the Del Mar gate situation. Ruth Kussard, a commissioner on the Lady Lake commission, told us that there were no ready funds in the Town's treasury for a traffic signal light. The District and the Town agreed to try the signage recommendation my by our own reps, The committee did an excellent job.
There was a lengthy discussion on sink holes in our area. Information was discussed on costs, differing insurance riders, and coverage that is held by the District. There was much concern expressed on the proposed upgrading of the Orange Blossom facilities that had been cancelled. We all were again reminded of the law enforcement capabilities of our Center District, Community Watch, and the County and Town of Lady Lake. We will not meet in the month of August. On September 10, we will take part in a joint meeting with the VHA Region of Sumpter North. We will join Regional Area Representative John Land and his group at 7:00 p.m. at the Paradise Rec. Center in the Charlie Chaplin room. It promises to the a fun and informative occasion with coffee and cookies and two important speakers Janet Tutt, District Manager, and Carl Bell, Vice Chairperson of the AAC, will share their thoughts and be available for questions Do mark your calendars, for this is a marvelous opportunity to learn about our local government and meet some new neighbors. Have a safe later part of the summer. |
